Auto Repair Tips Every Driver Should Know

auto repair

Here at Orozco’s Auto Service of Long Beach Downtown we appreciate each and every customer. We know that there are times when your vehicle is having problems or you have a complete breakdown and may not have the opportunity to get to Orozco’s Auto Service location, if by chance that does ever happen we would like to share some valuable tips to help you in discovering another reliable alternative.

Do a bit of research

It doesn’t take long to do a little research on your estimate. Many common repairs can be found online to give you a better understanding of what the mechanic may be performing on your vehicle. Sadly, some of the less ethical shops out there can try to pad your invoice with non-essential task and or parts that didn’t need to be replaced.

Be sure to ask for an estimate upfront

You should not allow the shop to start working on your car without giving you an estimate for how much the work is expected to cost. In many states you are entitled to: An estimate – Before beginning any repairs, the auto shop must provide you with an estimate showing the estimated price for parts and labor and obtain your authorization. Sometimes the only option available is an estimates given over the phone so even though a written estimate carries more legal weight it may not be feasible. Many times an estimates is simply just an estimates, so it’s possible your bill could be slightly higher, if you see anything that is in excess of that stated amount possibly get a second opinion.

Inform the service advisor or mechanic with as many details as possible

When you bring your vehicle into an auto repair shop try and give the service advisor or mechanic as much information regarding the problem as possible. Letting them know if your vehicle is making strange noises when does that noise or rattle start…while going around corners, just after you start the vehicle and so on. This will give the shop a better directions and they can most likely diagnose the issue sooner and help getting you back on the road quicker.

Learn about the auto repair shop

If possible, ask around town and see if they know of the shops reputation. Also consider researching a few online reviews while understanding even a bad review can be insightful if the shop owner responds to the bad review with an effort to resolve the complaint. Additionally, feel free to stop in and check it out before making your decision. Is everyone friendly and professional? Is the shop clean and organized? Just by performing some do diligence can go a long ways into choosing an auto repair shop.

Don’t be afraid to ask follow up with questions

Unfortunately, far to many customers fall into the trap of the feared padded bill. Be it adding additional unnecessary repairs, upping to repair time or even listing repairs that aren’t even performed. Any honest auto repair shop wont be insulted if you ask to see the old parts or even point out the new parts installed if they are in a viewable position on your vehicle.

Be mindful of the the service advisors’ attitude

The service advisor, is generally your contact person at the front desk and your go between to the auto mechanic. If they are short with repair descriptions or easily agitated when you ask questions this may be the best time to request a manager or find another shop.

Try to avoid the larger chain stores

A smaller family owned auto repair shop may be a better option, due to the fact that they need to build long term relationships with their customers to earn repeat business. Additionally, the day may come when you need to get your previous repair records for routine maintenance of fluids and parts and having them spread out to several shops may prove difficult in tracking them down.

We hope these tips will be helpful if you’re ever away from an Orozco’s Auto Service location when you’re in need of emergency auto service. Always drive safe!

Don’t Turn Up Those Tunes, Get Exhaust System Repair

Loud Muffler Repair

Don’t you hate when you’re peacefully driving through Long Beach enjoying your jams on the radio and suddenly a vehicle with a screaming exhaust drive by, sometime so loud that you may panic and swerve as the vehicle drives by. Even worse is when you discover it’s your car! Don’t panic, Orozco’s Auto Service can silence that noise.

While we all know your muffler can keep your engine running quietly, but it’s also a key factor of your overall exhaust system. Your vehicles exhaust system has three main functions:

As we all know one of the primary functions is to muffle the engine noise with the muffler. Additionally, it safely gets hot exhaust gas from the engine out the tailpipe via a network of pipes starting with the exhaust manifold. Lastly, it treats the exhaust to remove harmful pollutants with the help of your catalytic converter.

Now let get back to the poisonous exhaust (carbon monoxide) exiting your engine. You don’t want that getting into your passenger compartment, carbon monoxide can be deadly. That’s why you should never run your engine in a closed area/garage. If you have a leak somewhere in the exhaust system, exhaust could get into the passenger cabin and make you sick or even kill you if ignored.

If you smell exhaust in the vehicle, roll down your windows and go to an Orozco’s Auto Service or any qualified mechanic to get it inspected as soon as possible. You may smell or see exhaust coming from the engine compartment or under the vehicle if you have a leak. Sometimes it sounds like a ticking sound when you start the engine that goes away as you drive. That may be a small crack or a bad fitting or seal that leaks when it’s cold but seals up when the metal heats and expands. It can also make sound from an exhaust leak that is loud and obvious as stated above.

Now, about that poisonous gas and the environmental issues. Exhaust gas contains a number of pollutants and dirty particulates. Your catalytic converter scrubs some of those harmful substances. And diesel vehicles have systems to deal with soot. Catalytic converters will eventually wear out and need to be replaced. Unfortunately, they are expensive so you want to help them last as long as possible by keeping your fuel system clean and replacing your air filter regularly. These components need to be tested for function with an emission tests from time to time.

If you believe your vehicle’s exhaust system needs service or are not sure and would like to have your vehicle inspected, call Orozco’s Auto Service of Long Beach today at 562-426-6322. Keep your vehicle in good condition and ensure the safety of yourself, your loved ones, and those around you!

Auto Lights Repair Info Everyone Should Know

Auto Lights Repair

Long Beach Auto Lights Repair

Your vehicle’s Lights and Signals aren’t something most people think about when they jump into their car, truck or SUV and head off to work on Long Beach’s busy morning freeways and streets. After all, your lights are outside your vehicle, and you may not even know if they’re working until it starts getting dark. Some vehicles have sensors that show a warning message or light when you have a broken light, but for many vehicles, you need to stay alert and occasionally check them yourself. Unlike the headlights, you may not notice when you have a nonfunctional tail light, brake light, or signal. Some vehicles will show an erratic blinker dash light when you signal a turn. An easy way to check on your own is to turn on the hazard lights and then go outside your vehicle to check, but brake lights aren’t as easy to check without the help of a friend.

One of the more common Auto Lights Repairs is brakes lights and turn signal failure which is usually just a burned out bulb. Unfortunately, glass bulbs all burn out sooner or later, which is a reality for all of us. other factors are time and the elements that will wear your bulbs down and inevitably lead to failure. You can always keep a set of replacement bulbs on hand in your car witch will keep you legal and safe on the road.

If you’ve replaced your bulbs and the problem is still there, you may have a short in the light or signal’s wiring. Or one of the pins could be burned or melted, causing a slight voltage irregularity which may even trigger a check engine light. If you replaced all of your bulbs and they still don’t function, or you have a check engine light, check all of your wire connections closely and see if you have any abnormalities.

If your turn signals stops working or works intermittently, you should use hand signals until you can get them fixed to avoid getting a ticket or in an accident. Turn signal mechanics are a bit more complicated than headlights or taillights since they involve switching on and off, so if you are experiencing problems with your turn signal, it would be best to have one of our Orozco’s Auto Service ASE Certified Technicians check your vehicle to diagnose the problem, fix it, and reset all lights and warnings.

If you believe your vehicle’s lights needs service or are not sure and would like to have your vehicle inspected, call Orozco’s Auto Service of Long Beach Downtown today at (562) 426-6322. Keep your vehicle in good condition and ensure the safety of yourself, your loved ones, and those around you!

Learn All About A Long Beach Oil Change

Long Beach Oil Change

Long Beach Oil Change

Most Long Beach car owners know they should get their oil changed regularly, but for one reason or another it just doesn’t happen. Some of those reasons can be; I can’t find the time, it’s not in my budget this month, I hate sitting around in a shabby waiting room, I don’t like repair shop restrooms and so on. Orozco’s Auto Service of Long Beach Downtown has your back, and we know how you feel. We and our families have all gone through some of those same frustrations and that’s why we want to may your time with us as painless as possible, some say even relaxing. First, Orozco’s Auto Service maintains the cleanest of waiting rooms and restrooms, they sparkle! We offer several options for making appointments over the phone (562) 426-6322, stop by or SCHEDULE A FREE APPOINTMENT. You can also drop off your vehicle and we can drop you off at your home or office within 10 miles. We know budgets are tight these days but getting regular oil serve will save you big in the long run. Now to make you feel even better. An oil change may not seem critical to keeping your car running well, but neglecting your oil can cause some serious engine problems.

Below is some information why you need to make sure you get an oil change at the manufacturer’s recommended intervals.

Topping off oil versus changing oil: If you check your vehicle’s dipstick and the oil level is low, then adding oil is only a temporary way to solve the problem for getting you back on the road. Don’t worry if you need to occasionally top off your oil, most cars will start to burn a little oil as they get older. If the issue persists stop into any Orozco’s Auto Service and we can check it out.

Oil keeps it clean: If you look at the contents of a fresh bottle of oil, you’ll notice that it’s more of a golden amber color compared to the brown or black oil on your dipstick. That’s because it’s clean. As oil moves through your engine, it carries away dirt and grime that gradually turns the oil dark. Dark, dirty oil will not do a good job of lubricating or cleaning your engine. You should get your oil changed at the manufacturer’s recommended intervals to ensure that your engine remains clean and running smoothly. Luckily Long Beach isn’t particularly a dirty or dusty environment, but if you travel to that type of a climate you should get your oil (not to mention their air filters) changed more often.

Changing your oil: Requires draining the engine of the old oil that is most likely very dark in color due to dirt and debris and replacing it with fresh oil that is usually golden amber in color to a specified level indicated by the dipstick. You will also need to pick up and add a new oil filter, which will help to keep the fresh oil clean by collecting some of that dirt and debris that the oil captures on its way through your car’s engine. Your vehicle’s oil needs to be changed at the manufacturer’s recommendations or when it gets too dirty to accomplish its job of keeping your engine components moving. At Orozco’s Auto Service, we take care of all this and give your vehicle a full inspection along with checking and topping off all fluids that appear low which is part of our recommended maintenance plan.

Another reason oil changes are so important is because the primary function of your engine’s oil is keeping all the metal parts of your engine lubricated. This will prevent any metal-on-metal contact, which can cause damage to your engine that can be very costly to repair. The oils task is to keep thin layer of oil on key components which maintains them sliding smoothly and reduces friction that will otherwise damage your engine over time.  Oil also reduces friction which in turn reduces heat buildup, which can also be a problem for your engine.

If you notice your “change oil” light lit on your dashboard, you shouldn’t ignore it. More than likely there isn’t any immediate danger of being damaged, but the light coming on is definitely not something to avoid. If it’s on, your oil needs attention. It may be low and need to be topped off, but if it’s time for an oil change, be sure to stop by or make an appointment at Orozco’s Auto Service of Long Beach in the near future.

Advice For Everything Auto Suspension Repair

Auto Suspension Repair

Your car’s suspension isn’t something most people think about while it’s working. But as soon as something goes wrong it can be very disconcerting. Here is some unfortunate scenarios  that you may suddenly notice if you have Suspension problems. Uneven wear on your tires or start to feel excessive play with your steering wheel or your vehicle slumps when braking or bottoms out when accelerating. Worst of all all, you may hit a pothole on one of our local Long Beach roads  that breaks parts on your suspension.

Due to the fact that your suspension is installed behind your wheels, many people done know much about their suspension. So, simply put, t’s part of your vehicles chassis, that includes the steering system, the wheels along with the frame. Your suspension system supports your entire vehicle, helping to reduce the effect of impacts from the road and maintains proper wheel alignment. It’s crucial for accurate steering, stopping and stability. Every time you hit a pothole, bump or object in the road, your suspension absorbs the impact and maintains control.

Most modern vehicles suspension systems are made up of many parts such as: shocks, springs absorbers, struts, torsion bars, leaf springs, pull rods, air springs, etc.  that all connect to your vehicle wheels one way or another.

You can imagine, with all those parts your suspension has plenty of joints and pivot points that allow your wheels to move smoothly up and down over bumps, and to turn as you steer. Over time all that abuse on those joints will eventually wear them out. Once a joint is worn, the suspension parts don’t fit as originally designed, handling and steering feels loose, and you may hear some disconcerting noises. Eventually your tires will begin to show unevenly wear because they are bouncing all over the road. A loose joint has the effect of stressing other suspension components as well, causing a chain reaction so other components will wear out faster.

Our ASE certified technicians at Orozco’s Auto Service of Long Beach Downtown recommend getting proper maintenance based on your vehicle’s manufacturer’s recommendations. This means regularly having your suspension inspected and repairing or replacing parts when ever necessary.

By addressing minor problems before they becomes a major repair can help avoid costly future repairs. Also, be sure to have parts replaced or checked ensuring your mechanic follows the manufacturer’s specifications. Manufacturer’s also recommend replacing your shock absorbers at pre-estimated intervals.

If your vehicle is showing any of the above signs or you feel your vehicle’s suspension needs service or are not sure and would like to have it diagnosed, call Orozco’s Auto Service of Long Beach Downtown today at 562-426-6322. Plus always keep your vehicle in good condition to ensure the safety of yourself, your loved ones, and those around you!

6,000 Miles Between a Synthetic Oil Change. Really.

Long Beach Oil Change

Long Beach Downtown new car owners are often surprised when they are told their new vehicle uses synthetic oil. Additionally, they discover a synthetic oil change is about twice the cost of the standard oil change. So when did this new costly upgrade happen and will it really benefit me and my vehicle?

Well it all started around 2019 when about 70% of all newer vehicles began to recommend using synthetic oil or a synthetic blend oil for their engines. We’ll get into synthetic blends in a later article, for now lets stick with synthetic oil. Synthetic oils are generally the better choice for performance and the longevity of your vehicle. This is based on the fact that synthetic oil protects your engine due to lower levels of friction which  protect your engine better at extreme high and low tempters. Moreover, synthetic oils don’t break down as quickly as standard oils meaning you can go further distances in between regular oil changes that help save money down the road.

So lets dig a bit deeper into what synthetic oil is. In a nut shell it’s artificially made from a variety of chemical compounds. They are then broken down and then rebuilt into new petroleum molecules. However, The base material, is still made mostly of crude oil that is distilled and then modified physically and chemically. There are many types of synthetics oils available with distinctly different properties and applications that vary based on the ultimate needs of your vehicle.

Here are some of the benefits when using Synthetic Oil:

  • Synthetics have a naturally higher viscosity index. Meaning, the viscosity changes less as temperature changes during normal engine startup and operating conditions as a result of being a more stable compound than standard oil.
  • Getting a longer engine life in most vehicles. Many Long Beach Downtown drivers have never owned a vehicle that lasted long enough to hit the 200,000 miles mark on their engine. But, with so many new vehicles using synthetic oils these days we will soon see more drivers every year achieving that goal.
  • Synthetic engine oils are generally less volatile than standard oils. This means there is less loss of the oil to the engine’s exhaust stream causing air pollution. This could also mean less need for adding oil between oil changes.
  • At extremely low temperatures, it is possible for mineral oils to become so thick (high viscosity) that the oil is non-pumpable making it unable to circulate effectively within the engine.
  • Synthetic oil has a longer lifespan than conventional oil. The recommended change interval for synthetic oil is around every 5,000 to 7,000 miles or 6 to 8 months, with some brands lasting much longer (15,000 to 25,000).

In conclusion, for many vehicles, synthetic oils could be a better choice for overall engine operation, performance and longevity. Unless the biggest factor in making your selection of lubrication is only based on cost. If you like the idea of fewer oil changes, upgrading to synthetic oil is the wisest choice, call Orozco’s Auto Service of Long Beach Downtown today at 562-426-6322. Keep your vehicle in good condition and ensure the safety of yourself, your loved ones, and those around you!

Long Beach Radiator Repair: Need To Know Info

Long Beach Radiator Repair

Long Beach Downtown Radiator Repair

Why is it that whenever there’s a car chase in a movie that the car being chased seem to always overheat signaled by a stream of steam coming from under the hood? This is generally a sign that the vehicle has a damaged radiator due to being shot or pushing the vehicle past it’s limits. As we all know, that’s just a movie. The reality about radiators is they can be a fragile component of your engine, and if not properly monitored and maintained it can fail and lead to additional costly engine repair. If you see steam coming from the radiator it is an indicator just like in the movies that your radiator has not been able to do it’s job and it can quickly lead to additional costly repairs if you continue driving.

The radiator is one of the elements of your vehicle’s cooling system, and if there’s a problem with it, the extremely high temperature of your engine running will cause your vehicle to overheat and likely and if ignored for even a short period of time will fail. Additionally, your radiator prevents overheating by cooling the fluid that flows throughout your engine to dissipates engine heat.

Looking For Headlight Repair

Headlight Repair

Long Beach, Downtown Headlight Repair

Headlight Repair has gone a long way over the past few years and so has headlight technology. Headlights, can also be referred to as headlamps, and they come in a variety of types from classic sealed beams to modern halogen lights, xenon and even LED bulbs.

A good set of headlights can really make the difference in hazardous weather. With a wide but focused beam of light they can save lives of you, your passengers from or wayward oncoming traffic. Most older vehicles had to settle for dull and discolored headlights and quote often out of adjustments. Now we can choose from the brightest white light or a 7-color RGB DRL Bar headlight for off-road vehicles, virtually erasing darkness.

Today’s cars and trucks use standard or halogen bulbs, which are much brighter. HID lights use a high-intensity discharge to create white light for much safer driving conditions at night. You can also upgrade to LED bulbs. They cost more, but their powerful brightness makes driving at night safer and more comfortable.

Finding the right replacement bulbs for your vehicle is crucial to a safe ride and maintaining visibility. Like many products out there, not all headlights are the same. So you should always refer to your owner’s manual for the specific bulbs you may need. Do you need a whole replacement headlight assembly or do you have an H4 conversion and only need to find a headlight compatible with your housing. Replacing some bulbs requires dismantling components under the hood. Sometimes an electric relay may be burnt out and prevents electrical power from reaching the headlights. If this seems a bit overwhelming feel free to visit Orozco’s Auto Service of Long Beach, Downtown our ASE certified technicians have the tools and the know how to install the right light the first time.

Acrylic headlights lenses info
When exposed to UV light acrylic (a type of plastic) headlights will oxidize. This is due to the fact that headlight lenses are manufactured with a clear top coat to help prevent the oxidization. But like most things, eventually that coating will wear off. In time direct sunlight yellows the hard plastic. Visit Orozco’s Auto Service and our ASE certified technicians can make them look new again with special cleaners and polishes, and a hard protective finish. In most cases it’s much less expensive than having the lenses replaced.

Below is a list of a variety of available headlights products

LED HEADLIGHTS – Activate with a speed that almost makes them almost automatic headlights. small and compact, but unfortunately get very hot and need expensive components to make them fully efficient.

HID HEADLIGHTS (XENON HEADLIGHTS) – high-intensity headlights give the most visibility to the driver. After filling a glass tube with Xenon gas, an arc of electric current is run through the bulb to produce incredibly hot plasma-filled white-blue lights.

REFLECTOR HEADLIGHTS – These are the oldest of the bunch and were often considered dull stock headlights.

PROJECTOR HEADLIGHTS – Once only found in European performance cars, but today they are common.

H4 CONVERSIONS – The most accessible aftermarket upgrade the average driver can make to their driving lights.

HALOGEN HEADLIGHTS – Combine two gasses to create a more efficient lighting environment than old-school filament bulbs.

Even though your headlights are the most prominent lights on your vehicle there are also many other important lights. Brake lights, turn-signal lights, back-up lights, license-plate lights, fog lights, and more. With so many lights regular inspections should always be a regular part of your vehicles maintenance schedule. Additionally, Highway Safety Codes designate headlights and other automotive lights as part of your vehicle’s safety equipment. So, you can avoid a fine by ensuring that all your lights are working properly.

If you’re concerned about any of your vehicles lights or you would like to upgrade any of your lights contact Orozco’s Auto Service of Long Beach, Downtown today at 562-426-6322. Rotating your tires should always be a part of a regular maintenance for your vehicle and with that, tire balancing should be part of the rotation process. Long Beach Head Gasket Repair Near Me? Orozco’s Auto Service

Leaking Valve Cover Gasket Repair

Long Beach, Downtown Head Gasket Repair

Most Drivers in Long Beach, Downtown aren’t aware that head gasket repair can be a complicated task for any vehicle. In fact most driver’s don’t even know what a head gasket is until it starts to leak. Luckily, Orozco’s Auto Service of Long Beach, Downtown knows all about them and is happy to share some helpful info. If you keep having to topping off your coolant, or you notice a blue or white smoke coming from your tailpipe or when you top off your oil you notice a frothy dirty white substance under the cap then you may have an issue with your head gasket. If a blown head gasket, more than likely your vehicle could be in the shop for a few days.

Signs there’s a blown head gasket:

Blue exhaust smoke could be another indicator

Cylinder misfires are another sign of head gasket failure

Misfire on startup, accompanied by a puff of white exhaust

An external oil or coolant leak at the seam between the engine block and cylinder head

Overheating is one of the less-obvious signs of a blown head gasket

Oil-contaminated coolant can form a mayonnaise-like film, which you might find on the radiator cap or in the overflow reservoir

Here’s some valuable information about your head gasket.

When checking your oil the dipstick can have a dirty frothy consistency

After learning all those signs you may still be asking what a head gasket does. Combustion engines are designed to sty cool. They are filled with liquids and gases mixing so they can perform their specific functions. And the head gasket is designed help perform that task. It’s mounted between the engine block and the cylinder head. This is where the intake, exhaust and valves are also located. The head gasket is a thin seal that prevents liquids and gases from escaping into adjacent cylinders and the surrounding oil and coolant galleries. As previously mentioned the two elements this is designed to keep separate are coolant and engine oil. Just like that old saying oil and water don’t mix! At Orozco’s Auto Service of Long Beach, Downtown we have the expertise to keep that oil and coolant separate and to repair that head gasket no matter what you drive.

Additionally, engine coolant surrounds each cylinder in order to maintain a stable operating temperature; it also needs to flow into the cylinder heads to cool the combustion chamber, valve and spark plugs. The engine oil performs three important functions: lubrication, cooling and hydraulics. The oil pump sends pressurized oil throughout the engine to lubricate bearings, bushings, journals and timing chains. It also drives hydraulic actuators, such as variable valve timing. Long Beach, Downtown Muffler Repair

Image you are driving down Long Beach Boulevard when suddenly your vehicle sounds like gang of bikers coming down the road. Most people will know it’s time for a new muffler or exhaust but what they don’t know is how important the exhaust system is for your overall vehicle. The exhaust system, which includes your muffler, directs exhaust fumes away from you and your passengers, it improves engines performance, it improves fuel consumption and lastly your catalytic converter that is part of your exhaust system helps to keep pollutants from escaping into our clean coastal air.

So just in case your muffler goes out Orozco’s Auto Service of Long Beach, Downtown would like to share some important information about your exhaust system’s components from your engine to the tailpipe(s). The beginning of your vehicles exhaust journey starts at the exhaust manifold (sometimes referred to as headers) to remove combustion gases from the cylinders. The manifold is linked to a catalytic converter that cleans up the chemical mixture before sending it down the line to a resonator and the muffler, both of which help mute the sound produced when the gases roar through your vehicle’s metal pipes. Imagine all that and it also maintains your peace and quite so you can play the radio distraction free.

With all those components there’s are many possible areas for an exhaust leak. Each of the exhaust system elements listed above are connected through welds and flanges, and with time and corrosion, these connections can start to loosen. One of the initial signs that exhaust gases are escaping prematurely is a ticking that gets louder or faster when you hit the gas. A ticking sound can also indicate a crack in an exhaust manifold or a hole in any part of the exhaust system. Depending on how serious the leak is, it can often be repaired with a patch or a fresh weld with the experts at Orozco’s Auto Service of Long Beach, Downtown.

Luckily, mufflers don’t just stop working overnight without first giving you some pretty obvious clues that you may have an exhaust problem. Mufflers will usually last from 40,000 to 80,000 miles depending on the weather conditions in your area. Excessive water and salt on the the roads for snow can speed up the degradation which will in turn get incrementally louder as the interior chambers and sound-deadening materials break down. It’s not always easy to detect initially, but eventually you’ll notice that your vehicle is getting quit a bit louder. This generally means either there’s a large break in the exhaust system or your muffler that’s on its way out. Either way, this is a great time to Visit Orozco’s Auto Service and have it checked out.

Removing The Fear of CV Boot Repair

CV boot Repair

Long Beach, Downtown CV Boot Repair

Long Beach, Downtown drivers should be aware of the importance of the constant velocity (CV) boot in their vehicle’s maintenance. The CV boot is a small rubber encasement that covers the CV joint and keeps the grease inside. If the boot is damaged, it can expose the CV joint and cause it to fail over time. The CV joint helps keep the axle from breaking when a driver hits a bump and also keeps the wheels aligned and turning. There are two of them on an axle, one at the transmission and one at the wheel. As the vehicle moves over the road, the joint must be well-lubricated to allow for the necessary movements and angles.

CV boots are susceptible to damage from road debris or age and should be regularly inspected. At Orozco’s Auto Service of Long Beach, Downtown, certified ASE technicians inspect the CV boots every time a vehicle comes in for service. If the boots are damaged and not replaced, grease will leak out and contaminants such as water and damaging particles will enter the joint. This will cause rust to form, eventually leading to a critical failure and rendering the car undriveable. Warning signs of a broken CV joint include grease splatter on the inside of the wheel, visible damage, or vibration while driving. If a serious vibration or clicking or popping noise is heard when turning, the entire CV axle should be replaced along with new CV boots.

If you are concerned about your CV Boots or you would like to have them inspected call or visit Orozco’s Auto Service of Long Beach, Downtown today at 562-426-6322. Remember to always keep your vehicle in good condition and ensure the safety of yourself, your loved ones, and those around you!

Why Orozco’s For U-Joint Repair

U Joint Repair

Long Beach, Downtown U-Joint Repair

The driveshaft plays a critical role in maintaining the proper rotation of the tires in rear wheel drive vehicles. It connects the transmission to the rear tires and transfers the engine’s power to the tires. The driveshaft is supported by U-joints, which are spherical bearings that provide flexibility and allow for a smooth operation.

However, if the U-joints are not properly lubricated, they can wear down over time and cause several problems, such as a rough ride, clanging or banging sounds during gear changes, and noticeable vibrations in the seat or throughout the car. The U-joints are essential in supporting the driveshaft, which is exposed to significant amounts of force. If the U-joints fail, the driveshaft will not be adequately supported, leading to increased vibrations and wear.

To avoid these issues, it is crucial to keep the U-joints lubricated. Some signs that it’s time to replace the U-joints include noticeable vibrations, strange noises from under the vehicle, and the presence of red or pink fluid (transmission fluid) on the ground. In such cases, it is advisable to seek the assistance of a certified ASE service advisor at Orozco’s Auto Service of Long Beach, Downtown for an inspection and replacement if necessary.

In conclusion, the driveshaft and U-joints are important components in rear wheel drive vehicles that ensure a smooth tire rotation. Proper lubrication of the U-joints is essential to avoid problems such as vibrations and wear. If you encounter any symptoms that suggest it may be time to replace the U-joints, it’s best to seek professional help from a certified ASE service advisor. Contact Orozco’s Auto Service of Long Beach, Downtown at 562-426-6322 to have your U-joints inspected and maintain the good condition of your vehicle. Drive safely!

Learn About Power Steering Fluid

Power Steering Fluid

Understanding the implications of driving with a Power Steering fluid leak in Long Beach, Downtown is critical to prevent costly car damage and potential accidents. Fluid leaks can result in low fluid levels or fluid on the ground, leading to accidents if unexpected situations arise and the driver cannot react quickly. Additionally, fluid leaks can cause significant damage to the vehicle, leading to costly repairs or replacements.

In case you suspect that your car has a leak, you may be able to continue driving it temporarily until a professional auto service can repair the leak and replace the fluid. Best Info For Your Wheel Alignment

Wheel Alignment

Long Beach, Downtown Wheel Alignment

In case you notice your car veering to one side while driving on the 710 freeway towards Long Beach or Downtown, especially on wet roads, it could indicate an issue. To avoid potential accidents, it is recommended that you take your vehicle to Orozco’s Auto Service for a wheel alignment.

Proper wheel alignment is essential as your car’s tires are the only point of contact with the road. When your wheels are aligned correctly, your tires will have the appropriate angle on the road. It is suggested that you have your vehicle’s alignment inspected every 6,000 miles or as per the manufacturer’s maintenance schedule. If you observe uneven tire wear, your vehicle drifting to one side, or the steering wheel not being centered while driving straight, it is advisable to get it checked sooner.

During a wheel alignment service at Orozco’s Auto Service in Long Beach Downtown, your car will be positioned on an alignment rack and elevated to check its current alignment status. Adjustments to the toe, caster, and camber angles, if necessary, will be made to ensure the wheels make the correct contact with the road. Wheel alignment and tire balancing are not the same, although they are often performed together. Balancing involves making minor weight adjustments around each tire and wheel to ensure that they rotate without excessive vibration or wobbling.

In summary, having your wheels appropriately aligned is crucial for your safety while driving and can also help extend the life of your tires and enhance your driving comfort. If you suspect that your car requires a wheel alignment, it is vital to take it to a reliable auto shop like Orozco’s Auto Service.

If your car is displaying any of the above symptoms, or you believe your wheels require an alignment, or you are uncertain and would like to have your wheels inspected, contact Orozco’s Auto Service in Long Beach Downtown today at 562-426-6322. Always maintain your car in good condition and ensure the safety of yourself, your loved ones, and those around you!

Camshaft Repair And Who To Call

Cam Shaft Repair

Long Beach Downtown Camshaft Repair

If you hear unusual noises like backfiring, popping, or tapping sounds from the top of your car’s engine while driving on the 710, or if you experience a dead miss or loss of engine power, it could be an indication of a camshaft issue. In such cases, Orozco’s Auto Service in Long Beach Downtown is a recommended solution.

The camshaft is a crucial component of an internal combustion engine and consists of over 200 moving parts. Without a camshaft, the engine cannot function correctly, and if it becomes damaged, the engine’s performance suffers.

The camshaft’s role and its impact on engine performance may be challenging to understand, especially for those who haven’t disassembled a car engine before. However, it is worth exploring how it works.

When fuel and air mix and ignite, the engine’s pistons move up and down in its cylinders. To allow oxygen in and expel the exhaust gases produced by the explosion, the valves at the top of the cylinders must open and close.

According to experts at Orozco’s Auto Service of Long Beach Downtown, the camshaft is responsible for opening and closing each cylinder’s valves at the right moment and duration. The camshaft comprises “lobes” or “cams” that push rocker arms while rotating. As the camshaft rotates, it raises the outside of the rocker arm, allowing the inside to press on the valve and open it. The rocker arm returns to its initial position, releasing the pressure on the valve as the camshaft continues to rotate, and the valve spring closes the valve. This precise timing with the vehicle’s ignition ensures smooth engine operation and efficient power production.

Camshafts can be driven by a belt, chain, or gear set, and some engines have camshafts that are pushed from below, while others sit on top of the motor and work from “overhead.” The latter design may feature a pair of camshafts. Certain cam designs allow for the timing of when the valves are open to vary. With a series of computer controls, this can create different power profiles at different engine speeds.

If your car requires a new camshaft, repairing it is not recommended due to the manufacturing processes involved. Although some high-performance engines use repairable camshafts, it’s usually not practical or cost-effective for the average car on the road. Therefore, replacing the camshaft with a new one is the best option, and Orozco’s Auto Service is the optimal choice in this situation.

If your vehicle is showing any of the above signs or you believe your vehicle’s camshaft is damaged or are not sure and would like to have it inspected, call Orozco’s Auto Service of Long Beach Downtown today at 562-426-6322. Always keep your vehicle in good condition and ensure the safety of yourself, your loved ones, and those around you!

The best way to find a good auto mechanic is getting referrals. Ask friends, family or co-workers for recommendations. This will let you figure out what kind of price you’re dealing with and if you’ll be satisfied with the work that is done. Those close to you will be able to give you an honest retelling of their experiences with certain mechanics.

TIP! Ask your mechanic is he is familiar with working on your car. If they have, you should feel better about their ability to solve your problem.

Educate yourself on your car’s manual and bookmark important pages. You need to know the basics about your car prior to visiting with a mechanic. You could even find the answer to a problem in your car manual and fix the problem yourself.

TIP! To keep rust from becoming an issue, wash and wax your car regularly. Although all cars rust at some point in time, it is possible to delay this from occurring by washing off salt and chemicals immediately.

Inspect your radiator once in a while. Run your car, turn it off then pop the hood. Then check the coolant level, but while the car is not running. You do not want the coolant to get hot; it is dangerous. Use a dipstick to gauge how much radiator fluid you have, keeping in mind that most types need to be diluted with water.

TIP! Ask your mechanic if he has had experience working on your type of car. Yes, every car has an engine, a radiator, and a gas tank, but how they are built will vary greatly from vehicle to vehicle.

Ask the technician at the repair shop you are considering if they have done work on the same make and model of vehicle before. If they have before, then they are likely going to be able to also fix your car easily enough.

TIP! Assemble an auto repair kit and put it inside of your trunk. Your car probably came with what you need to change a tire.
